Study of Canine Babesiosis in Pet and Stray Dogs of Kathmandu Valley

Canine babesiosis is caused by protozoan parasites which usually transmitted via various species of ticks. The ultimately parasitize the erythrocytes host body, resulting in fever, anemia, and hemoglobinuria. From June 2021 to September 2021, a cross-sectional study using purposive sampling method was conducted. A total 140 samples were collected from dogs examined for presence Babesia spp. thin blood smear test stained Giemsa. Regression analysis done compare categorical outcome variables. overall prevalence found be 14.3%. result showed significantly higher tick infected (p<0.05). Sex, age, type breed wise statistically insignificant (p>0.05). In hematological parameters, RBC, Hb, PCV, platelets declined positive cases TLC, changes (p>0.05), whereas DLC cases, only neutrophils lymphocytes significant mean temperature 103.44±0.69. This research intends add some information on status inside Kathmandu valley with majorly concluding ticks as major cause diseases. Tick control therefore critical order reduce prevalence.
